    thats because Eircom are the only line owners, so all the other networks are eircoms "b!tch", eircom could charge 100p/m for line rental if they wanted to.

    In theory they could but people would leave. At the moment its one of the few things the regulator actually does is regulate line rental poorly.

    This just demonstrates what a catastrophic failure Irish regulation is.

    Same as the banks really. Why is it, that if Irish regulators didn't exist, we'd struggle to tell the difference and not just in broadband?

    It points to the people pulling the strings!

    Not unless it cost them close to that to provide said lines. That much is regulated.
