Broken key in ignition

My wife broke my car key in the ignition. Anybody know the best (cheapest) way of getting the key out. It is broken off down in the barrel.
Would a general locksmith have the tools to get it out, or do I need to get it to the garage, and have them take the whole thing apart

Ignition barrel has to be removed.

That seems like a pretty definitive reply

Can you see the broken bit, or is it buried deep?

Can just about make out the broken off bit, but it is way down there.
It broke off at the part of the key where the teeth start.

I've heard of people putting a tiny bit of superglue on the good end of the key (or something else you can get in there) and holding it in against the broken bit for 30 seconds. May be worth a shot, but strictly at your own risk.;)

I can just about see the remainder of the key in the lock, but I am loathe to stick some superglue on something and put it into the lock, even if the thought did cross my mind.
