When is a good time to ask someone to my debs?

    I am friends with a girl who I know very well and I feel she would be the best person to ask to my Debs the following August. I've known her for about 3 and a half years now and I strongly believe I will always be friends with her.

    I have been wondering when would be a good time to ask. I know it sounds mad considering I am in 5th year now but I'm afraid if I do it before my Leaving Cert next year someone else will have already asked her.

    Any ideas?

    If you're asking her as friends and it's after your leaving cert in roughly August 2011 (I'm assuming cos you're in 5th year now) then I'd wait until some time during 6th year. Preferably towards the end.

    This leaves it open to one or both of you maybe having a girlfriend/boyfriend in between which might change the situation, ie she might prefer to go with him or you might want to bring someone else.

    By all means don't wait to ask her until after your LC but it's more than 18 months away now, far too early IMO :eek:

    My god man its absolutely ages away! By asking her now you will get shot down and freak her out. Wait until March next year at the earliest! Heck I waited until after the LC. A lot happens during hte summer between secondary school and uni so keep your options open!

    You asked this like two weeks ago and the responses aren't going to change really. Maybe ask in a new thread again in a year or more.

    Thank you to everyone who replied to this thread.
    I have just came to terms with everything in my mind and the advice each and everyone of you gave me has been outstanding.
    I know what to do now, if I ask someone to my Debs it will be at the end of 6th year. I think it was just teenage anxiety that was getting to me but I am relieved of it now so from now until then I don't feel stressed anymore.
