US television 'pre-empted'

Every now and then, my cousins fail to get me the latest episode of a US television series. Stupid cousins, but I've assumed it's because the latest episode doesn't actually air, due to some sporting or news event 'pre-empting' it? Does anyone know of a site or resource that will tell me what actually aired the night before (or this week) rather than what was scheduled to air?

    I use this site.

I can't (under)stand the way they miss out weeks all the time in their TV schedules; how do they expect to keep audiences if they just randomly hit and miss weeks?

    I use this site.

Good site, but like most others, it lists what was scheduled, not what actually aired - Scrubs, S9E12 did not air for example and ABC hasn't even announced when and if it'll air...

Some other shows, like Leverage, seem to have aired but at different time slots - most of yesterday's shows would have been affected by Obama's State of the Union speech...

OP, what I do is either check a review site like http://www.tvsquad.com/ to see if they have a review up of the episode in question (which would mean it aired) or better yet, go to the US iTunes store and check if the episode is released for purchase (they never put episodes up if they have not aired for whatever reason).

    I use http://myepisodes.com/

I've added a bunch of shows to my "watch list", and then have an RSS feed from it set up in my reader.

When new shows are aired I get a notification in my reader telling me what episodes are out and for which shows. (I use "Feed Sidebar", an add-on for Firefox)

I use myepisodes as well.... great site.

If you want to find out about a particular show, use http://epguides.com -- just stick the show name at the end of the link, e.g. http://epguides.com/lost

Sorry, I missed the point of the OP (I didn't understand what you meant by 'pre-empt').

I find myepisodes hard to read and epguides a bit roundabout.

I do use tvsquad from time to time, but they don't cover all shows. myepisodes.com looks promising, but I tried the demo and I'm not convinced by its accuracy. Leverage is one that it shows as aired 27/1, but as stated above, it didn't (or only aired in certain places?).

The US iTunes Store is a good idea, but how on earth do you access the US iTunes Store through regular non-US iTunes?

American TV scheduling drives me bloody mad. It's all over the shop.

Leverage did air, but only on certain affiliates I think and at a later time. The correct episode, S2E12 does indeed appear on US iTunes.

As to how you access US iTunes - you can switch to whichever store you like (there's a flag of the country store you're at, bottom right in iTunes). It's only when you try to buy/download something free that it tells you your account is only valid for purchases from the Irish (or whichever store you have an account with) store and switches you back. So if all you want to do is check listings, there should be no problem.

Or you could just get a US account, it's pretty straightforward - try searching the Mac or Apple Media Devices forums here for instructions.

myepisodes is easy to read for me. Make sure you're using the right screen.
    http://www.myepisodes.com/views.php

From there, its very easy to see what aired and what is coming up. You can also set that page to be your homepage in the preferences (so that's the page that comes up when you go to myepisodes.com).

Finally, make sure you set your timezone to "Eire", and Episode offset to -8.

I'm too stupid to use the site. I've been trying to find the account registration screen for 5 minutes...

Come on-How much foresight do these bloody channels need?
Ok-Haiti is a given, but other sports events, presidential adresses etc, all could and should be planned for,
    Ridiculous

I use http://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat/ to tell me that a show should air on a certain day and then the site of one of my cousins to let me know if it actually has. He's a very ez cousin to get good tv information from ;)
