    Does anyone know the caller ID Scheme used in Ireland??
    How does it work..e.g is it sent between the first and second ring?
    Im trying to get it working on asterisk appliance.

    In the asterisks(trixbox) appliance it is sent on the first ring..

    You can see this by connecting to the asterisk via ssh.

    once connected and authenticated run a asterisk -r

    And make a call into the system and you will see when the caller id is sent.

    Or make a call out same thing.

    I hope this is the answer you are looking for

    The eircom network uses ETSI FSK caller ID, it's sent after the first ringing burst. It's a V.23 modem signal basically.

    ETSI = European Telecommunications Standards Institute
    FSK = Frequency Shift Keying.

    It's a very standard system, same as France and Germany and is supported by almost all devices produced.

    The BT system's a bit different, it uses polarity reversal to signal that its about to send Caller ID info, but the signals are the same FSK. This system isn't supported by as many devices e.g. some cordless phones can't see BT caller ID, but most BT phones CAN see Eircom's caller ID as they usually support both standards.
