Have look keo grip cleats and the dark grey material thats raised is starting to come off but the shape of the light gray plastic is still in good shape with very few scraps... I can't find any indication as to when to change the cleats, should I be changing them now

On the normal Keo (non grip type) they have indicator holes drilled in them with a white background (small 1-2mm) and when one of these is no longher visable then its time for the cleat to be changed usually, if you leave it go though the float starts to get rediculous and when you fianlly do change them you give yourself a slap in the head and say out loud shite, why didnt I change them sooner :(

its just the rubber thats wearing away/peeling off, I'm just not sure if they need to be replaced when the rubber comes off...

I usually change cleats when clipping in and out doesn't happen as expected (e.g. it won't engage properly or it comes out unwillingly etc.)

No they dont, but your grip is going to be worse walking around ;)
I have the covers with the standard ones ,they are pretty hard wearing and thick so can take alot more of a beating than the grip on the cleat itself ones you have.

I had the cleats with the rubber grip...still slide all over the place trying to walk.

I replaced my cleats when the front of the one on my left show completely snapped off...mind you I still got a week out of them with the front snapped off :)
