Am heading there in June for 2 weeks, on an exchange programme of sorts. I was wondering if anyone has been can you help me with a few things? Im not interested in boozing, etc and have researched the restaurant, dining, touristy, sightseeing side of it, but is there any stores there that would be akin to our Penny's or Dunnes maybe? Or a pharmacy like Boots? Also would anyone know how expensive it is? and maybe give me an example?

    Cheers folks!

You should go ask on ASM Clermont Auvergne rugby team's fans forum. Sure they would welcome you nicely even if that's OT.

It's a little town in the middle of Auvergne only known to be the birthplace of Audrey Tautou and nothing else...

Auvergne is gorgeous and the people passionate Occitans, welcoming with alml the famous colorfulness, character, good food and all but without the 'arrogance' of those from more southern fancier places like Toulouse for example. Very simple folks.

    Hope that helped!
