    In a scene normally watched on America's Dumbest Criminals, a Atm machine which has been out of service since December and which contained no money has been robbed in cork:D.

    I woudnt be surprised if the ATM wasnt empty. Common tactic is to play down the actualities of a crime in an effort to see what comes out of the woodwork. We did something similar in school years ago, played out like this.

    Teacher: The school was broken into last night and money was taken. Fortunately it was only £2.50 but still, we need to know who took it. But thankfully it was only £2.50
    Little Johnny to Little billy: There was way more than that taken...

    And thus forth, Little billy was known as the Big Snitch! :D
