Defective Vision

Could anyone clarify this for me?

The vision standard on the Garda website states that vision must be no less than 6/18, 6/18 (correctable to 6/9, 6/12) unaided by glasses or contact lenses, with normal colour vision.

OK so I understand the 6/18 in each eye unaided by glasses but what’s the correctable to 6/9, 6/12 all about

The Standard is 6/9 with your best eye and 6/12 with the other.
If you score 6/18 then you need glasses, and if wearing glasses you get 6/9 and 6/12 then you pass. Hope it helps.
