    I was thinking of buying a deactivated 303 from the uk,do I need permission from the Gardai

    The Militaria forum might be a better place to ask your question but from what I have read there it would seem you need written permission from your local Superintendent.

    re enactors are mad for these items. There are a few not for profit clubs in Ireland and their advice would be invaluable as they have got things right and wrong about decomissioned weapons and will advise you.


    I dont re enact myself but know a few of them. Was in a field in Kent England with up to 14,000 of them i kid you not. They are all mad but well into their hobby. The Irish I met there were selling deactivated weapons and vehicles more so.
    If the weapon is not deactivated by a reputable firm it can remain a threat to the public.
    P.M. me if you want the name of a re enactor group in Ireland.

    Ps. they are all Nazi re enactors, be warned ha ha
