If I work a couple of hours a week and get between €150 and €250, will my disability be cut?

If you're on Disability Allowance you can do rehabilitative work and earn up to €120 per week without your payment being affected. You must get permission from the Department of Social and Family Affairs before you start work.

Have a look at the table @ this link:

Most likely course of action is his claim will be suspended, they'll calculate an over-payment for when he was working, and he'll have to pay it back.

They won't send him back to France.

he only used to work about 2hrs a night on a fri or sat, do they take back the hourly rate or how much he earnt? I'll wind him up a bit before I tell him what you said! (not really, thanks for the info)

No, the won't take back what he actually earned in wages on an hourly rate ...

They'll look at it this way...

    (1) Would the nature of the employment be considered rehabilitative? (eg, if he is on Disability for a bad back, and is lifting and changing barrels in a pub) .... do you see where I'm going with this?

If they decide the nature of the work would have disqualified him from the allowance, he will have to pay back the amount he received in allowance during the time he was working.

    (2) Or... if the employment was rehabilitative... they'll calculate what his Disability Allowance would have been, had he declared his earnings, and if there has been an overpayment, he will be made to pay that amount back.

OK thasnk for the info, loueze. If I had my way I'd send him back to france, just to even the score with Tierry Henry!
