Do many international students join it, and do they end up learning some of the language in the process?

    Hey man,

Yeah quite a large proportion of foreign students would partake in the Cumann's activites, particulary the beginners Irish class which is free and would be directed primarily at foreign students with no prior knowledge of the language, where possible everything is done bilingually so as not to marginalise those who have an interest in the language but just dont quite have the language skills. Further information about the classes will be available in the coming weeks.

So since this thread exists, what would it be like for someone who's Irish but terrible at it? (basically I ignored it for years and only got interested when studying for the oral)
Was considering joining last semester but didn't really like the idea of a society in which I'm the only one non-fluent (excluding the complete beginners)

well our classes cater for people at three levels

    beginner
    intermediate
    advanced

also many of our members are no where near fluent and just possess a love for the langauge or a real desire to improve, all correspondence is done bilingually where possible to encourage people.

you shud defo come along and try out the classes if you were interested
