    Hi,

Sorry if this in wrong forum. I have an old Sanyo tv that I got a few years ago it is self tuning. I'm moving house and decided to give it to my sis. When I put it on in her place everything seemed fine and all stations were there. But after about 10 mins the tv just started changing channels itself.

Is there a common reason for this? Or is tv just knackered?

haha, funny markflo....I'd say the channel changer button is stuck either in the remote or in the TV. That can happen if the buttons are manhandled, ie pressed to hard too often. Same can happen with the keyboard buttons on a laptop! On the remote, a needle usually does the trick to poke it out, same with the TV. TV set though may require a TV repair guy if it doesn't work for u to replace the button! Otherwise the channel changer element or circuit is damaged.

    One other possibility,

I had a TV once that started changing channels randomly while our babysitter was watching it. When I came home she had it switched off and said it was haunted !

It turned out to be dust on the receive control sensor on the set. It was acting like a filter and seeing infra red signals from the light bulb in the room. If the light was turned off, the TV stayed on channel - turned on, it started switching like a mad thing. A quick clean of the sensor and all was ok again.

    Strange,.... but true.

Ive heard if the TV is facing a working radiator or if the sun is shining in on it wierd things can happen although Ive never seen it myself.
