Recommend some courses to me?

    Hey all,

I'm pretty sure this is the correct place to post this, since it's a query for any college.

Anyway, I'm interested in doing character design as a career, but feel that I need to upskill/specialise in the field before I can get some sort of acknowledgment for my work.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone could recommend a course to do that would help with this. I've already studied Animation in Ballyfermot and felt it was a waste of time for what I needed from it (I ended up learning more about character design from books I bought than from the tutors there).

I've had a look on college websites but nothing seems to be what I am looking for, perhaps a reader here knows a good course that is useful and has some worth while work experience relative to the real world work.

Or indeed if anyone here works as a character designer and would be able to offer some help on getting into the industry that would be a big plus. I just feel confused and fustrated in what I need to do in order to have a respectable portfolio/show reel.

I'm totally expecting this to be ignored by the masses, but any suggestions would help

why not find companies that hire these people and ask them what qualifications/experience they require there and then work backwards from there for what boxes have to be ticked to end up with 'the dream'
and rather than posting in 'college' try animation forum
