    Here's something very interesting indeed. A young man is arrested for murder, and his mother who is the only one who believes he's innocent, sets out to find who really did it. This was South Korea's entry for this year's Oscars. What's really interesting is that it's written and directed by Joon-ho Bong, who also wrote and directed Memories of Murder and The Host.

    Sweeeeeeeet, this looks really good. (I was previously jeffreylebowski and I started that Korean movies thread, but my own stupidity prevented me getting into my account again after the reset)

    There's a message on the front page saying they'll look into ways to get accounts back, so I'll keep checking it. It's my fault more than anything, after all I lost access to an old email account, so I don't mind too much. but thanks for the advice! I'll try the helpdesk if I don't see any updates that help.

    This looks fantastic. But, unsurprisingly, I smell a hollywood remake....

    I keep meaning to check out Memories of Murder but it always slips my mind.

    See it. I really cannot recommend it enough. Quite easily one of my favourite serial killer films.

    I just got the new IFI programme, and Mother is arriving there on 20 August. I've been watching out for this ever since I saw the trailer months ago.

    It's a very good film, glad to see it getting some sort of release over here. Typically blackly comic mash of genres from Joon-Ho Bong.

    just watched memories of a murder there after reading this thread yesterday, absolutely fantastic movie.
    I did think the very last scene with Kang-ho Song staring straight into the camera was a bit much, but other than that I'd have to be seriously nit picking to find much in the way of flaws

    Yeah it's really good alright, only watched it recently enough too after getting fed up of Karl mentioning it in like every thread ever :P But it is extremely good, as are Mother and The Host. Definitely a director who can make interesting films out of the most stale of genres!

    I'd seen the host before and liked it, but after watching joint security area and the good, the bad and the weird (and now memories of a murder) i'm gona watch it again just for kang-ho song. Man's a great actor. I have mother here too, it was a tossup between that and memories of a murder tonight.

    if i wasn't so tired i'd stick on JSA now, but ill watch it tomorrow

    bollox, friends birthday tomorrow and another on saturday. Maybe If I have a coffee I can stay awake for JSA
