Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Green Drinks Dublin is a free event that brings people together every month – not only ecowarriors, not only the hardcore carbon neutrals, just regular people who care about being a little greener.

This month, Green Drinks is exploring Veganism. Our guest speaker, Dr. Roger Yates, will speak primarily on Veganism in relation to climate change. Dr. Yates currently lectures with the Sociology department in UCD, and is prolific in his writings concerning relationships between humans and their nonhuman counterparts. We’ll be looking at issues of personal nutrition as well as weightier topics such as global food security- something currently vexing minds at the UN. And don’t forget, there’ll be a chance to grill him afterwards, so bring your questions!

Green Drinks will take place on Tuesday 2nd of February from 6pm (speaker at 7pm) in
The Science Gallery, Trinity College, Pearse St, Dublin 2. Come one, come all.
For more info, news and photos of previous events, seek out ‘Green Drinks Dublin’ on Facebook.

This guy seems to have a colourful background.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Yates
Was jailed (absconded during the trail) for conspiracy to commit criminal damage for the Animal Liberation Front.

But read on and you'll find some car bombings that the police were atributing to an "unknown group" but yer man was a suspect.
Later a hunter admitted bombing his own vehicle and others in order to discredit animal rights groups (and he only got 9 months sentence).

There is something ironic about a guy who appears to have been sentenced to four years' imprisonment in 1987 for conspiracy to commit criminal damage on behalf of the ALF and being a member of the "green" movement.

It's not very green to commit criminal damage!

    i doubt they sell alcohol.

was a tongue-in-cheek remark anyway, nothing meant by it.

Many vegans have issues with alcohol due to the filtration products used.
As a result, I can understand why they would avoid a venue that sells said products.

Some drinks get the yeast to flocculate with isinglass which is a no no for vegans. It is easy enough to find the drink that does not use this though.

    Looking forward to this :)

We used to run Green Drinks in a pub, but for the past year (ish) it has been held in the Science Gallery. So we're not avoiding pubs per se, we just like the Science Gallery :)

Also, you'll be pleased to know that the cafe there does serve alcohol! Wahey!
