Are there any books or publications available on the subject in Ireland, or a solicitor / valuer who specialises / knows about these matters ? Or a journalist who has an interest in such matters ? I have heard of a case where the Borough Council ran rings around a small and inexperienced solicitor / valuer , to the cost of the vulnerable property owner. He was told by the valuer not to object too much, that the Borough Council have long memories. Can anything be done now ?

There would be quiet a few estate agents and solicitors familiar with the procedures given the amount of roads built in all parts of the country over the last 15 years.

While the council team would presumably have a lot more experience (after all they would have just bought up neighbouring plots), to suggest they "ran rings around" the solicitor suggests they weren't up to the task and perhaps not taken up the work.

While councils have long memories, they can hardly hold this against the landowner and sounds like the solicitor is more worried about his own reputation in front of the council.

You say "solicitor / valuer". These are usually two separate functions / people. Now sure, some people can do both, but I would imagine they are in the minority and its only for the experienced.

The way you say it sounds like "shenanigans", but that is it no way proved.
