After years of Hell with my windows PC I done it . Bought a Mac. No more blue screens and install this and that, keep out viruses and all sorts of attacks. No more noise coming from the computer like a jet engine with the fan running all the time. install, uninstall, reinstall. Bye Bye bad dream...

As you can see I am new to Mac, so if you have any good sites you think I should visit please let me know. Like sites with tips and tricks on how to get around a mac for a new boy.

Congratulations on your new purchase. Macs are a huge step above most other laptops in terms of the quality of hardware and operating system.

congrats, i did the same as you about 5 years ago and i haven't looked back. It will take a bit of time getting used to your mac so be patient with it.

A few programs i find useful and you may too are as follows.

VLC Media Player, good for .avi files in particular
Unrar X good free software for .rar files that you download
Handbrake, good for transfering DVDs into i tunes for you ipod/iphone
    Microsoft Office for mac
Firefox, good for websites like RTE, i listen to the radio through Firefox
Transmission, great for downloading bit torrent files, from say the Pirate Bay, legal files only of course:D:D:D

The one other thing i suggest you do is buy and external HD for time machine, time machine saved my ass once when for some mad reason my new imac showed that my HD was full after first install... believe me its a life saver.

Any way best of luck with it.
