Fiesta 1.25 Running Problems - Stuck!!

A mate's fiesta one day started to judder while he was driving, ever since its ran like a dog. It misfires/idles rough/no power what so ever/hard to start sometimes.

We've changed the distributor, HT leads, the cats gone into a garage to be changed but has been advised its perfectly fine.

Any idea's what could be the problem? Sounds like some sort of sensor to me but it would want to be a serious sensor to cause this car to run the way it is.

    Crank Position sensor?
    MAF sensor?

Any help appreciated. It's been like this for months.

Try disconnecting the MAF, see if that improves things at all. If it does, it needs replacing.

Try cleaning out the trottle body, if still no improvement
get a diagnostic done, tell you what the exact fault is.

    Coil pack?

This thing is a heart ache. Just after replacing the master cylinder and a rear brake cylinder too.

We switched over the Crank Position Sensor to no difference.

We switched the coilpack and HT leads already made no difference.

We'll disconnect various sensors and see what difference it makes. I'm thinking the worse IE head gasket or loss of compression as the timing belt did snap 6 months back with a tastey repair bill .

Do a leakdown test on it, shouldn't take long and you'll know whether the HG and valve timing are OK.

sounds like coil pack, but as you say u checked that

Id change/check one thing at a time

something simple? fuel or filter? are you getting fuel from the fuel line? if you're checking that be careful and have an extinguisher on standby

there is an an inertia switch which in the event of an accident cuts off 12v to the fuel pump, if need be ensure it doesnt need to be reset and then you could check that you're getting 12v between one of the wires and a negative/bolt head when the ignition has the reds (oil/batt/brake) illuminated but not turning over.

I'd go for the MAF too. They cost around £100 from ford and are easy to fit.
