Help me decide between two cameras please

    Hello fellow boardsies,

i have never ventured in here before so go easy on me!

Anyway, i am trying to decide between two cameras. Up to now we have used a sony tsc point and click jobby but i have found myself increasingly frustrated by it.

Added to the fact we are getting married in May of this year, wedding in dubrovnik, and honeymoon in the seychelles and ending with a 5 night safari in Kenya, so we will have lots of use for a decent camera in that ime.

I have narrowed it down to two, both panasonic Lumix. Either the DMC-FZ28 or the DMC-ZS3 (aka TZ7).

From what i have heard and read the TZ7 is basically the daddy of current compact technology, x12 zoom, hd video, impressive pic taking abilities all round, and the FZ28 is a bridge to proper dslr cameras.

Can anyone give me any experiences that they have had of either and the relative merits and demerits.

I am currently leaning to the TZ7, the safari aside it will probably do everything we want it and still be a camera that you can throw in your jacket pocket heading out the door.

    Any thoughts? :)

What specifically have you found frustrating about your current P&S ? Chances are you'll find almost exactly the same frustrating characteristics in either of the two cameras you've listed (the smaller P&S probably more so).

ah, there are a load of things but basically its a little long in the tooth now,

width of the lense, zoom etc all not up to scratch, rubbish for macro use aswell

Might you consider moving up to a low-end DSLR? I can't imagine that the jump in price would be too massive.

nope, but the whole portability thing is an issue, hence im not looking for a dslr
