The Mail must be rather short of news today.:)

Oh come one, Daily Mail. the situation here is that your disk must be readily visible. As the AA spokesman suggests, plastering the dash with disks isn't on.
The Department for Transport said the rule was intended to make sure all motorists were treated fairly.

A spokesman said: 'Where parking spaces are in short supply, "no return" restrictions may be in place to stop people from monopolising a parking space for a long period of time.

'It is specifically in these cases that rules apply to prevent people from adding a second ticket to extend the amount of time they can park beyond the maximum allowed.'
    - this makes it sound like the Daily Mail have wires crossed and/or were asking the wrong questions and that they are in fact targeting all day parking. Hogging spaces all days isn't fair on other people who may need the space for access.

I hope they don't start doing this in Ireland, I clean all the expired tickets off my dash about once a month. :D

Well they haven't started doing it in the UK have they? If they had presumably that article would be able to cite a single example instead of "may", "might", "can", etc.

What you have to remember is that the Daily Mail is a lot like theonion.com - sure it's entertaining but it's not actually real news.

In a country that imposes heavy fines for leaving your wheelie bin out on the wrong day I would believe anything that they propose.

In fairness, that's not a bad idea either.

If you leave your parking tickets on the dash it makes it easier for the authorities to track down where you've been and when. It's a good idea to remove them. I wonder what run_to_da_hills thinks? ;)

That seems quite common in Spain too:

    Or this, a window-sized ticket :)

It roughly translates as "let your whore of a mother pay" in one half and "thief" on the other :)

Friend was fined just before Christmas because the traffic warden couldnt read the date on her valid parking ticket. It had slipped behind one that was already there. So clean up people, you have been warned!

..paying for it isn't hogging it. If you pay for it, you're entitled to it.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

No, many spaces allow you to park for only 1-3 hours, depending on signage and the local bye-laws.
