1086hPa in Mongolia

The world record of 1083hPa in Siberia in 1968 was unofficially beaten last week when Gandan Huryee in Mongolia reached 1086hPa. However, given its altitude of 1400m and the temperature of -44°C, the reduction to sea level may lead to errors, so it will not be officially accepted as a new record.

Taken from the DWD "Thema des Tages" (21.01.2010)
    in Agata, Sibirien, registriert).

The Global Weather & Climate Extremes site mentions the 1968 record. Some of the rainfall extremes seem unimaginable....

In the area of the Asian cold high was the way to the
Station Gandan Huryee (Mongolia), a new record, with pressure
1086 hPa registered reduced (value at sea level).
In view of the station altitude of 1400 meters and a
Air temperature of minus 44 degrees to the reduction of the
Atmospheric pressure, an error occur, so the new record
has no validity (the old record high was posted on 31/12/1968
    at Agata, Siberia, registered).

    Translated
