reading this months Pro-Cycling and a good take on Ricco (and I would imagine its aimed at most druggies) from Cav
"Ricco doesnt care about cycling. You see,our sports just going to get more and more sh1t now, with him coming back, showing no remorse.Everything I do and work for gets undermined by people like him.Not only that but in the 2008 Tour I almost finished ouyside the time limit becuase what he did in the Pyrenees. He nearly killed me.And thats just me being selfish~what about all the people who lost their job because of what he did?"

I have some time for guys that were never caught but put there hands up and admited their drug use.
Unlike guys who have been caught and still maintain they are innocent.

ha ha Riis he just a Wierdo !!! but a cheat too ... I watched the DVD about the team can't remember the name ... but he came across as very Strange !!

Anyways lets look at his record mainly from the two dates below ...

    1991
    107th Overall, Tour de France

1993 5th Overall, Tour de France .............eh 102 places in a couple of seasons !!

and then in 2007 he admits
taking EPO, growth hormone and cortisone for 5 years, from 1993 to 1998

hmmmm do we know of that other riders that have became Grand Tour Contenders in a season or two in the 90's ????

I was a bit disgusted when reading this months pro-cycling.

Even guys like Millar don't seem to realise the true implications of their actions.
He speaks of moving on and accepting responsibility for what he did.

Don't think one of them mentions shame.

Does he have to get the word into every interview for the rest of his life?

    'Ashamed' Millar wants redemption.

Anyone who rode as a pro during that period is going to be tainted by doping. Short of kicking them all out, there's not a lot you can do. So you are going to hear ex-dopers banging on about doping. Some of them believe the sport needs to be cleaned up. Some of them are smart enough to know that unless they are seen to do something, sponsorship money is going to dry up.

The issue for me isn't former dopers condemning doping. It's whether they really mean it or not.

Riders who may be capable of challenging for a top 20 position may be hindered by domestique duties. Obviously doping may explain the leap you highlighted but it's not going to be the case every time you see such a drastic change.

that's complete crap ! It was Doping that moved him up 100 places in a couple of seasons he admitting doping from that year onwards !

Gifted Riders are born gifted, and usuall appear that why from underage onwards .... you don't become fanastically gifted over night !!!

And yes everyone on a tour podium in the 90's is definately a suspect !!

Indurain went through the same process.

As a domestique, he finished 97th and 47th in the Tour in 1987 and 1988 respectively. Within 3 years, freed from his helping duties and given the team leader role, he won it.

As I have already said, doping can never be ruled out as a reason for drastic positional changes in a brief period of time. All I'm saying is that it is foolish to immediately assume it must be the case.

In life I am a firm believer that if you put up your hand and admit your failings/mistakes and take the necessary responsibilty/penance for that that you should be then allowed to het on with your life.

Riis admitted it but too late.
Millar accepted responsibility, so how many times should he say sorry?

Now Ricco he is a completely different kettle of fish.
