    Hey,
Unofrtunetely I cracked my macbook screen today. Brought it into PC Guys on camden st, 300euro to fix, another mac retailer on Georges street 280euro! Neither will sell me the part. On eBay the LCD screed seems to sell for about 120euro inc delivery. Apparently there are "bad" screens to get though.

Can anyone help me find what I need, that will work in my macbook. It's white 1GB macbook, bought in late 06, afaik they seem to still sell the same one, or did atleast last year.

Please help :( some of my notes aren't backed up :(:(

I dont know much about the repairing side of things so i cant help you there unfortunately. Regarding your notes however, if you have access to another mac though, you should be able to hook it up and access your macbook like an external HD.

I used to to do it with my old iBook and iMac by rebooting the iBook and holding the F key iirc. That was when i was connected with a Firewire cable though, im not too sure about USB

Have a look at www.ifixit.com and see what you make of the repair on their guide. A Macbook screen replacement is listed as being a "difficult" repair and you will still have to locate a screen as well. If you don't feel you are up to it, try www.bondigroup.com; Dean is Apple qualified and top notch and if you are Camden Street/George Street based, he is just off New Street. No offence to PC Guys or that but I'd be dubious as to how good or bad they are when it comes to repairs.

This is called Target Disc Mode; it's with the Firewire port :)

Can't help with repair advice, but don't forget you can connect your Mac to a monitor and run it off that display, if you have a wired keyboard and mouse you won't need to change anything in System Preferences first - more advice here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131
Think any PC World should have the necessary DVI / VGA adapter.
