Hi, I have been using 3G for an internet connection for the past year and had a direct debit from my bank account, to which I wrote to 3G to cancel and I also wrote to my bank to do the same. 3G say they never recieved it and of course I dont have a copy of it, they are harassing me with phonecalls insisting that I pay them the amount of money, now outstanding, which has accumulated since november last. They also say that I must give them 1 months notice prior to cancelling, I may have only given them 3 wks approx but no less. Can anybody advice me on this matter, has anyone else expereinced this?, It seems very triviable to see a solicitor about it, for the moment at least as the amount they claim that is owed isnt much. I would appreciate any advice you may have!!

From personal experience, ALWAYS register letters to phone companies, as they always say they never receive them.

At least if you register the letter, someone has to sign for it so they cannot deny they didnt get it

    Thanks jeoun,
Yes you are right I should have but I was in a rush, I will be smarter next time, If there is a next time, I will diffo not use my credit card details, I think its very unfair that they can renew the contract without permission, saying that its probably in the small print.

I completely understand your dilemma. You should try and unsubscribe from Sky or Setanta and it is a nightmare. They amount of denials they come up with is unbelievable and yet they continue to bill you. 3G are doing exactly the same. Keep writing to them explaining what you did and they will eventually give up.

Thats good to know, I do get anxious though when the bill is increasing!!
I will take your advice and put it in writing and this time register it.

It definitely says you have to give them a month's notice, I recently finished up with 3 and they are keen to retain their customers, but once they understood I wasn't keen on staying with them, it was straighforward enough. Absolutely useless mobile broadband provider IMO.

OP I assume you meant Three Mobile when you state 3G, 3G is a network type and also used to be the name of the now closed "eircom stores".

3G as a company./store never provided broadband directly and instead allowed customers imply to buy Vodafone, O2 or Three "Mobile Broadband" through their stores.
