We are building a house at the moment and we need to plan out all the electrics,to where they are going in the house. The Sockets and switches are not a bother, its the lights that its hard to decide.Just wonder where would be the best place to go and get advice on the type and number of lights we need in the rooms of the house e.g spot lights or LED lights.

domestic spots are mainly gu-10,that way you have a choice of led/cfl and the newish 'energy saver' halogen bulbs.
12v halogen can be utilised where you require halogen with dimming facility.

any fluorescent or 2d lights for utility, garages etc.,try to get 'electronic ballast' type for rapid start.

some of the wholesalers like 'CEF' can assist with the lighting design
