Developing an app for the iphone ?

Hi,

A friend has asked me to find out some information on developing an app for the iphone (& nokia) that will allow his customers to go into his sales ordering system & order through that.

They have an existing system which is web based but he wants to add another layer of convenience (he's a recent iphone devotee also).

Anyone know how it's done ? do you have to go to apple or can you hire someone to do it & how much should it cost ?

If you already have development experience, the biggest hump is learning the language and the platform. Once you get comfortable with Cocoa/Objective C it's pretty easy to churn out apps.
