ICAI - IFRS Diploma

    Hey All,

I just finished my FAE's and was looking at doing another set of exams as I still have a year left on my contract. I was wondering has anyone done the IFRS diploma offered by the ICAI and whether it is of any use in getting jobs, etc. Or is it just aimed at people who have never studied IFRS before.

    Thanks!

If you have just done FAE, you have covered IFRS - why do another course on the same subject matter? In any case, the diploma in IFRs will have little value within a few years when everyone is on IFRs anyway (in m opinion). If I were you, I'd consider any one of the following a better way to spend the year:

IFRS v US GAAP - isn't there a US GAAP diploma run by the ICAI?

visual basic - get up to speed on a neat programming language that complements a spreadsheet application. As an accountant, you'll be looking at and creating plenty of spreadsheets.

XBRL - electronic reporting for financial reporting. This is a skill that is already in demand in the US and UK. There are, as yet, few experts who really know about it from an accounting perspective. Check out http://www.iasb.org/XBRL/XBRL.htm

Get good at all three and you're globally mobile!
