    Hi everyone,

Test drove a 08 bravo and they seem nice, have previously owned 2 fiats so dont want any silly posts bout how bad they are etc, i have my own opinion.

My question is, whats all this T-Jet stuff...

im looking at a 1.4 petrol Fiat Bravo DYNAMIC, what type engine is this?

is the T-Jet an option or is it the standard engine in these cars?

    confused!!!

My October 08 guide book lists 3 engine options for the Bravo. The 1.4 90bhp in Active, Dynamic and Emotion, the 1.4T-Jet with 120bhp in the same specifications and the 150bhp version in Sport trim.

Unfortunately, the emissions and cc are the same for the standard and T-Jet versions so you can't tell which is which from the tax disc. CC is 1368 and CO2 is 156 (€448 pa for tax). 150bhp version is 167g.

I reckon the difference between the engines is probably a Turbo. MYOB is the man to ask on Fiats - sure he'll find this later.

Bravo is available with two 1.4 litre petrol engines, a 90bhp non turbo unit and the 120bhp T-jet which is turbo charged. The T-jet costs about €1k more than the standard non turbo model. Dynamic is the trim level for which is available with both engines.

    Engine stats:

    1.4 litre 90bhp:
    0 to 62mph: 12.5 sec,
    Top speed: 111mph,
    Annual motor tax: €447

    1.4 litre (T-jet) 120bhp:
    0 to 62mph: 9.6 sec,
    Top speed: 122mph,
    Annual motor tax: €447

A 150bhp version doesn't seem to be available anymore. Best thing to do is try and test drive both cars and see if the difference in performance is worth the extra money to you.

Think you can get the 120 brake multijet diesel cheap through scrappage at the moment in a good spec. Think it's about 16k. Even without a scrapper you might get close. Well worth even getting a price as thats very good value

    I just had a look at www.fiat.ie, looks to me as though Dynamic is a trim level. Says it's available with the 1.4 16v 90bhp, the 1.4 16v T-Jet 120bhp, the 1.6 16v Multijet, and the 1.6 16v Multijet 120 Duologic (auto?).

    cheers for that.

got a good deal, am buying second hand, trading in a nissan almera 2004, its a nippy engine in the almera, took the fiat for a test run it didnt feel as responsive, but then again i only drove down the road a bit and back, the almera is definitely nippier in the lower gears anyway but besides that its a lovely car inside and out, as long as the engine chews up less petrol than my current car ill be happy, i dont drive far enough to benefit paying a little extra for diesel.

question is, are the 1.4 focus Leon or Golf engines as powerful (power to weight ratio)? i get the impression that for the size of that car, the bravo engine might be a bit more powerful than those equivelants simply because it seems to be a slightly smaller or lighter chassis?

1.4's in a Golf/Leon/Focus isn't worth bothering with, unless it's one of the tubocharged models mind

    From Fiat UK:

    Engines & Performance

    First number is 1.4 90hp, second is 1.4 120hp, third column is 1.4 150hp

No difference in economy between the 1.4 90hp and the 1.4T 120hp.

But come on, 150bhp from an italian 1.4 engine???? that has to be asking for trouble;)

I'd say that, given the way Italians drive, the Fiat engine would take the power no problem. Ever Heard of the Italian tune-up?

Hehe, there is something about Fiats. I owned a 1.4 12v 97 Brava for about 2 years. Jesus, I spent more on repairs than I payed for it...got it cheap!! but that said it sure was fun to drive. I was gutted when it died.
