    The specs both the same really, both Sora, both triple even the weight is the same at 9.5kg but the Allez looks nicer.

    Agree; the allez all the way. My other half has the 2009 version of it and she loves it. Don't like the defy look.

    The Giant felt very sharp and was fast but the brakes were just ok.

    I haven't road tested the Allez yet. On the back of your recommendations I might go for the Allez though

    Have a look at the Specialized Dolce (They are designed for women) and they are in or around the same price.
