Mac Rumors have a picked up on a tweet from a German retailer. Called the iPad and set for a March 1st release.
Priced at €499 w/ contract on T-Mobile and €899 with out.

Steep price without contract if this thing is just a glorified iPhone.
The tweet has since been deleted.

I hate the name iPad. What was wrong with iSlate? I hope they didn't change it over Microsoft using it at CES. But it would it be just like Apple to do so.

Whatever it's called, I'm starting to get really curious about it. Steve is calling it the "most important thing" he's ever done. It's good to see the old RDF is still firing on all cylinders despite his health problems.

Tbh though I'm sick of Steve and his bullsh*t. This better be good or I'm gonna uh, slate him tomorrow. :pac:

Update: fscklog reports that a company representative has confirmed that the Twitter account is not an official Media Markt account, and thus the iPad posting is certainly fake.

You can almost guarentee that no pics are gonna be leaked. The odd iPod has been leaked but something as big as the Tablet wont be leaked, like the 1st Gen iPhone.

Looking very forward to this. I have 0 need for it, and 0 use for a tablet device because I have a Netbook but I know Im gonna want one so bad. Damn Apple and their brilliant marketing strategies.

I'm interested in the touch screen QWERTY keyboard they're implementing. It's supposed to have some sort of tactile feedback.

Which have been very effective at building hype. I doubt very much gets "leaked" without Apple's say so. Interesting article about how they control this here.
