So I've been receiving my college careers newsletter for the past number of years, even though i've long left. I usually delete on sight, but today i thought it might serve a better purpose.

It's usually geared towards graduates, but some of the job descriptions are asking for 4/5/7+ years experience. Fcukin bullsh!t to be advertising to grads if you ask me. So here you go, I hope it helps someone finds a job.

I graduated last May and had to put up with the same BS.

The careers job list had jobs advertised looking for 2/3 + years commercial experience, whats the point in advertising it to graduates?

The gradireland website is worse, loads of jobs on there require a number of years of experience and I thought it was a website for graduates?

I browsed it everyday and only the minority of jobs advertised where aimed at actual graduates

    100 % agree.

Some of the listings on gradireland should be on mainstream job sites - not aimed at graduates. And some jobs listed on the college careers sites really shouldnt be there either.

I also found my careers office in UCC to be terrible. Had two visits there and it was a case of headless chickens and stuck up secretaries. Scrap the place if you ask me and assign the money thats saved to student facilities.
    ***sorry, rant over****
