Copying games from PS3 to PSP

Hi, I hope someone can help with this. I got a new PS3 for Crhistmas and I have downloaded a few games from the PSN. I would like to let my son play with these on his PSP. I tried to copy one last night and it gave me a warning that the account details for the PS3 and the PSP were different. The message went on to say that the current account would be deleted if I continued to copy. I am not sure of the significance of this warning - does it mean that if I copy the game to the PSP that it will not then play on the PS3?.

Is there any way to change the registration on the PSP so it matches the PS3?

    Any help appreciated.

Does your son have a PlayStation Network account, and if so, is his PSP signed in to use it? What the PS3 is trying to do is activate the PSP with your PlayStation Network account, so that it can play games/demos that you have downloaded with your PlayStation Network account. It won't delete the game on your PS3 unless you want it to and you'll still be able to play the game on your PS3 (in fact you can have it on up to 5 PSPs or PS3s). Whilst it does delete the account on the PSP, this is different to deleting an account on a PS3. All it means is that the PSP will be activated with your PSN account, he won't loose anything important, except that any games/demos he downloaded with his PSN account won't work until he signs into his account and 'activates' them on his PSP again. If your son wants his account back on his PSP all he has to do is log in to the PSN again from the PSP using the wifi connection, a PC using Media Go or your PS3 if his PSN account is on your PS3.

PSone games or a 'Minis' game will play on both a PSP and a PS3 - the PS3 might ask you if you want to delete the game from the PS3 if you try to copy it to a PSP, just say 'copy without deleting'. Do say yes to deleting the account information on the PSP.

To register the PSP with your PS3/PSN account all you have to do is transfer a game/demo over. You can also go into Account Managment on the PS3 and do it from there, but I can't remember exactly how to do it and I'm at work. :pac:

Gothpunk, wow! thanks for taking the time out to post that comprehensive response. Youn answered the questions I had and then answered the questions I was going to ask next. Sincerely many thanks!

Re the accounts, he does have a separate on the PSP, I set up for him last year, (he is only 7) he does not uses it. I think the easy thing going forward is to have PS3 acccount details on the PSP also. Downloading to the PS3 from the PSN and trasnferring to PSP would not be that much slower than downloading direct to the PSP (I am guessing!).

    Once again, many thanks

    No worries, you're welcome. :pac:

I usually download all my games for my PSP to my PS3 first as it's just so much faster, so the way you have it set up now is probably the best way.
