    S'craic lads?

Would anyone have any recommendations for a first time guitar string buyer? I love me some kyuss and heavy-ish music generally.

    cheers.

It's really down to what you want out of your strings, mostly it's down to trying out loads of different brands and gauges. d'addario, ernie ball, fender, gibson, elixir etc. the list goes on

For heavy music you'll probably want heavier gauge strings, at least .010s.

most of the kyuss stuffs in c ,so ya could do it in 10s but it prob sound crap id say guage wise ya want at least 11s or 12s to get decent string tension .

depend on what scale your guitar is too is another huge factor , the sames said with how hard ya play too , but brand wise cant say a bad thing about daddario.

personally use a 14 ,18, 20, 30, 50, 60, 70 but thats in either A and sometimes drop G but ive got a baritone 7. and the lower 3 are bass strings too. but as i said its all personal choice.

 Drop G? What bends play in that tuning? didnt know a a guitar could be tuned to that :o

I like elixir strings, cost a bit more, but they last way longer. I used to use ernie ball, but after a 2 hour gig, if i didnt wipe the strings down (I never think to do it ) they would corrode overnight and be for for the bin the next day. The other guitarist in the band doesnt have this problem with ernie ball, just me!
