Playing Combo H264 HD Streams with VLC (FIX) on Laptop

Recorded files from Combo Boxes have different extensions according to the box: most end in either TRP, TS or REC. Most of the MPEG2 recordings will play fine with VLC. The H264 recordings are a little more hassle.

VLC seems to be rejecting HD recordings lately from those recorded off RTE NL MPEG4 SD channels or Sat HD Channels.

One simple program is all you need to fix the problem.

Its called TSDOCTOR an excellent free program for sorting TS files and PID errors.

I have just done a test on the RTE NL streams with it and it fixes them.

    http://www.cypheros.de/files/TSDoctor_Eng.exe

    Install and Open the program.

File, open the TS file (if its a TRP rename it to TS beforehand)

It will tell you that the full range is set for the DVB stream and ask you do you want to fix the flag. Click Yes.

Then Click fix. It saves the TS file with a _fixed extension on the end.

It now opens with VLC no problem. Sorted. Takes about 5 seconds to fix the stream.
