I've been doing some research on applying for a grant (for the upcoming year 2010/11) and noticed this on my local authority website:
    Extension of the residency requirement
It is also proposed to extend the residency requirement for grant eligibility from 1 year to 3 of the last 5 years.

I just can't believe it -.- very upset at the moment - does anyone know if this has been approved yet? I moved here in Nov 07 from the UK (moved with company to open new office here in Cork) and obviously I won't have been here for 3years when my course starts :'( (just shy 2yrs 10months).
Does this apply only for non EU citizens or...?

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Thought I'd update this incase anyone else is in the same situation as me.

According to the higher education authority @ Cork county council this is so far still in its proposal stage - and we will find out more in the summer months... June or July (hopefully).

Also, they believe that the residental requirement is only for non-eu students, fingers crossed - but if its not, like those in my case who are only a few months short and don't get the grant we have the right to appeal the decision.
