A4 Check?!

    Hey guys!! Going looking at a second hand Audi A4 1.9 TDi on Wednesday!! Just wondering what sort of things I should I look out for.......apart from gaps in the metal work......oil colour......uneven tyre damage.......rattles in the engine?! Any help is appreciated?!

    Had a 98 one which caused me grief and a lot of cash. Use to rev up when idling-cost 600 to fix- would not go near one now

    Sorry I should have said this is a new model......A 2002 one actually! If it makes any difference?! I know a friend of mine has an A6 for 7 or 8 years with over 200k miles on it and its still goin strong! Just curious if any of ye have had any trouble with Northern cars?! This one has jus over 100k miles by the way?!

    your trottle was probably sticking or it was the lambda sensor????common fault with vw/audi

    Timing belt change at the right times in the service history would be the thing that jumps out.

    And if its a newer PD type TDI engine then see if you can make sure the right oil was used in the engine. And if you get it make sure you always use the right one.

    oil colour......

    As 'tis a diesel the oil is quite entitled to be as black as the night even if it was changed last week.
