Can someone please help me, i am currently unemployed and claiming job seekers allowance for me my wife and three kids now i know that they made cuts in the budget to childrens allowance and job seekers but i thought that if you are claiming job seekers allowance they would NOT cut the childrens allowance. does anyone have any ideas out there. If I understand it correctly, the monthly children's allowance payment is still cut but the extra allowance you get as part of your JSA payment (e.g. like the qualified adult allowance) will compensate for the cut.

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/social-welfare/irish-social-welfare-system/claiming-a-social-welfare-payment/claiming-and-increase-in-your-payment-for-a-child-dependent

looks like the amount knocked off the children's allowance was added on to the amount for a child dependent. multiply the extra added on each week by 52 and divide by 12 to see if it is equal to the amount deducted from the children's allowance.

they cut your job seekers by 8 euro for the main rate and 5 euro for the qualified adult rate (what you get for your wife)

they added extra to the qualified child rate to make up for the cut to children's allowance but they did not make up for the cut to the main JSA and QA rates.

You should be down 13 euro.
