Hi folks! Someone has offered me a Baby Stanley oven :), but I need to hire someone who can take it out of that house and deliver and lift it into mine! But the oven is really really really heavy! I need to hire some removal service that can transport heavy items from one house to another. Any ideas??

They can not moved in the same way fridges or wardrobes are - they must dis assembled and reassembled into position only by Stanley agents ( who will ensure that the flue arrangements are up to spec too)

Do not attempt any other method -such as man-with a van , no job too small etc - you may induce dangerous hidden fractures in the appliance

i am open to correction on this but stanley do not dismantle and reassemble any of their cookers, unlike their AGA counterparts, though they do once installed "commission" cookers (brand new only).
this type of cooker can be moved, dare i say it quite easily with either a pallet truck or with rollers, as this is how it was delivered in the first place.
you just need a bit of help.
that said second time round both moving and installation needs slightly more effort,
the man with a van is a no-no, but definitely with a bit of help and forward planning you should be fine......

I moved an old Stanley 8 from my Sil's house last year, mostly brute force and a handtruck under one end and pushed out of the house, then a neighbour used the front bucket of a tractor to lift it home.

As for cracks, well it was already cracked before I started, but nothing too serious - It's in the garage anyway.

I'd invest in a carbon monoxide detector so - be very careful about this issue . I would not use such an appliance with the ok from a trained expert

A bit O/T, but does a flue have to go directly up and out? Can it go horizontally or at a shallow angle for any part of its travels?

Interesting . You form a judgement "a bit O/T" and follow up with a query that shows you can't make that judgement

    Edit
    FIM

Sinnerboy, I don't think he was commenting on your statement. He was just asking a question that he thought might be off topic.

Me Right One, You can have the flue run at a 45 degree angle so long as both 45 degree bends have access doors on them for cleaning. I had a new Stanley range commissioned and it was fine for them. Works fine too.

It's located in a well ventillated area of the garage, opes greater than 0.5m near it, I'd never install this one in the house! I've fitted a second heat exchanger to it and it's used for burning paper briquettes etc to suppliment the boiler & solar.
BTW the flue is vertical on this installation.

Thanks Dolanbaker for the suggestion … but I’ll try a softer approach than that! LOL! :)

I’m taking your advice guys and am searching for a Stanley supplier to install it … and perhaps move it also! I have another month or so before I get the stove, so I have a bit of time to continue my research. It’s going into my kitchen / living room, to replace the “beautiful” 1950’s art deco fireplace (which is coming back into fashion I believe!) …yuck! I might post it up on the Dublin Waste website when I want to get rid of it.

Thanks for the info everyone ... the tea is on me!!
