    Hi All,

I have a iphone 3G with OS 3.0 which is jailbroken.

I am wondering is there an easy way I can update my firmware to 3.1.2, keep my phone Jailbroken and not have to lose all my data?

When I upgraded to 3.0 I did a restore in Itunes and then jailbroke the phone.

    Any help appreciated.

does the jailbreak with Blackrain require the phone to be connected to a computer when powering on?

NO 3g has full jaibreak, even 3gs Pre 40 doesn't have to connect to Computer. only After week 40 has TB ( tethered jailbreak)

Upgrading to 3.1.2 will remove any Cydia Apps you have .

Use "Aptbackup" from Cydia to create a **list of all your Cydia Apps .
When you have finsihed updated a re-jailbroken (what a word) simply install Aptbackup again at hit restore , this will re-install all your previous Cydia Apps in 1 go .

**It does not copy the actual app just its name .

Also note that if you've used an app like "Categories" to order your apps into folders and such this will not be saved by aptbackup.
