    heres a strange one,
a couple of weeks ago i noticed a rubbing sound coming from the car, 2007 accord with 45,000 miles on it. it seems to be coming from the back
i only notice it when driving on smooth surfaces.

at the weekend i had 4 new bridgestone potenzas RE050's 225 45 R17 fitted, and the alloys checked to make sure that no weels were buckeled /damaged, had the wheels balanced too all wheels were ok

however i noticed that the sound is still there

any idea what it might be?

btw, over the christmas, i slid on the ice at 20kph and scratched the back and then front allow against kerb,
had a look and didnt notice any damage.

Did you check the brake pads when the tires were getting changed?

With all the grit that's been put on the roads recently, could a bit be stuck somewhere?

could be a bearing? Not sure what sorta rear axle is on the Accord. I'd imagine independant but if its a solid type axle then it could be as i said. Noticed it on a few cars when going over x speed it would whir and rub.

    Just my 2cent

hi it does not sound like trapped grit or a stone, its a sort of rubbing sound.

each rear wheel is independent. not sure what it could be, any ideas?

ok jacked up car and gave right rear wheel a spin, went around freely enough but i heard a rubbing sound like the pad touching the disc, intermittently.

kinda same with the left rear one too. must book it in and get it checked out.

Yep starts off sounding like rubbing. Would be my guess. That or plastic actually rubbing.

If it is fix it as wheel falling off can ruin your day. (extreme case over time)

You should get an alignment done (eur50) just to be sure everything is in spec. That's something I would do every two years anyhow, car always feels great afterwards.

Check the brake shields aren't trapping some dirt/stones/twigs. Could be as simple as that.

If the dint into the kerb was bad enough, then the bearing/hub may have been damaged - raising the car and spinning the wheel by hand may well show visually if the wheel is true or not.

Hey glad you got sorted - You really should sign up here - its a sump for Accord Fanatics who are generally well intentioned and bullshít free - a great resource....

it only made the noise when going straight, or turning left, so mechanic said its the right one, if it was making a rubbing sound when turning left, and it didnt make any rubbing sound when turning right
