Hypothetical will question

I have a hypothetical question on drawing up a will regarding guardianship of a child.

Say Mr and Mrs X plan on going to a solicitor to draw up a proper will, but in the meantime want to do up a DIY job to cover them in the short term. They follow the standard line if either die and bequeath everything to each other, but there query relates to a situation if both of them die. Having recently become parents they plan on leaving X jr. under the guardianship of Mr X's sisters family, we'll call them the Y family. Mrs X's concerns relates to her own biological family to whom she has never been close, and wants to ensure that they have no influence or interaction with X jr's live. Would this decision then fall on the Y family to ensure it doesn't happen, or would the will have to specifically state that Mrs X's family should have no bearing on X jr's life. In either case could Mrs X's family make an attempt to have access to X jr?

All make believe and not real, but i'd be curious to hear opinions on it. Cheers.
