Original WiiKey - Modding Options

I have the original Wiikey installed in my Wii, and the firmware probably from when I played Twilight Princess or when I downloaded the browser beta. What are my options for modding the Wii? Will an update to the latest firmware for the WiiKey do (considering they're two generations ahead of me) or should I just ignore it…

I have both i would softmod if i was you easier to update as well
