Memmingen airport to Soll?

Hi
I booked flights to Memmingen with ryanair.Can anyone tellme how long it is to Kufstein(the train station for Soll)?or even how long it is to Munichs main airport so then i can gauge how long the journey will take?

Am looking at that myself all i can say is according to the AA it takes 2Hrs and 15 mins .

I can have a more exact time for you thuresday when I will be driving there

Thanks for the replies,thats put my mind at ease,thought i was in for a nightmare journey trying to traverse across Munich with limited german(limited to BMW).

Best bet is get to station from airport in taxi (bout 5km) then train to Munich main Station, Munchen Hbf, 1hr 15mins to 1hr 30mins depending. Switch trains to Kufstein direct 1hr roughly, then taxi to Soll. Enjoy.

So Memmingen train station isnt actually connected to Memmingen airport?

Obviously thats what youre saying so thats a bit of a bummer,i thought with german efficiency and all that they'd connect the train station to the airport:(

The Germans hadnt figured out that International flights would notbe going to their main International airport in MUnich !
Munich Airport itself has wonderful train connections !

True, Munich airport is great and Frankfurt airport is frankly remarkable!

We've been told to expect a shedlike structure in Memmingen and not much else! I expect this will change like all small airports singled out for glory by the benevolent MOL.

You can get a bus from the airport to Munich Hauptbahnhof,

then continue as before, as another option. I just don't know anyone who has done that yet - we may give it a go on our return leg if we've time. Also I think they may run shuttle buses to Memmingen town from the airport.

Looking at the times it makes more sense to get the 'ryanair bus' to Munich from Memmingen and then get the train from there.

You can get a taxi to Memmingen train station and then get a train to Munich, but you have to bear in mind that the *bus meets the plane* whereas the trains from Memmingen are occasional - I think 1 an hour, possibly with a change en-route.

We planned this out a few weeks back. If you look at the bus times, chances are you will be 1 to 2 hours earlier by taking the bus to Munich than by taking the train to Munich.

Of course, there is a huge proviso - this assumes the bus doesn't get stuck in traffic on the motorway. This has the potential to eat up loads of time.

Work out the times yourself, starting with arrival in Memmingen @ 1240 or whatever it is. Have a look at the first train leaving Memmingen for Munich after that, allow some extra time for waiting for baggage, getting the cab, etc . . . and you'll see where the delay comes in.

You can buy your tickets online with www.bahn.de - they arrive in the post within a few days, no problem. Watch out for good value advance purchase tickets, but beware that they are not flexible - if you miss your train they're not valid any more. We bought flexible 1st class ones (for the whole 90 minutes it take before we change to a local train) just in case the bus does get delayed. 1st class tickets in Europe aren't too expensive and there's a little element of luxury. Oh, and you get to use the 1st class lounge in Munich - load up on the free bikkies and bottles of water - wooh.

We passed through Memmingen airport in the Summer - it's a shed alright, but it's a perfectly serviceable shed. I've no complaints about it.

was in Kitzbuhel for New years, I traveled Dublin - Munich ( Aerlingus ) and trained up to Kitzbuhel with Bahn.de for 22 1 way 1st class.

Returned with a private Taxi between 13 of us to Memmingen Airport and flew home with Ryan air

Memmingen is a shed but works, Kitzbuhel to Memmingen in a Taxi was 2.5 hours
