I always wondered about this whole chartership thing...

I have been working abroad since I graduated (working in mechanical engineering and graduated from TCD in 2007) and am working with mainly French, German, Italian people, none of whom know what chartership is. So of course there is no sponsor in my workplace and no employer help to become chartered.

So what are my options upon returning to Ireland eventually? Will I be considered chartered if I spend enough time abroad or is there some test or something?

You write a report on what you've done engineering wise to date. EI provide a guide as to what is required. 4000 words should do you.

It has to be signed and verified by two other chartered engineers who are familiar with your work.i if you can't find two there are other ways.

Once the report is accepted you go for an interview. They make a decision after to see if you are competent to gold the registered title.

Any one wants help with theirs let me know
