    Hi

    Have found myself in a sticky predicament:

    Bought a car from a reputable dealer 18 months ago. Now want to sell. Didn't check finance on car at time.

    Have found out now via cartell check that there is finance outstanding but I have no way of finding out how much. Cartell told me what institution but not how much.

    The dealer has gone bust and is no longer with us :-(

    In researching this I've found that it's impossible to ascertain;

    -The amount finance outstanding
    -The previous ownership history of the vehicle

    I know this is a stupid predicament to be in and I don't really want to hear about that or how I should have checked at time etc.

    I would like to hear constructive advice on next steps?

    Any thoughts?

    Contact the company Cartell told you to verify?

    If Cartell told you the name of the finance institution then can't they tell you how much is owing on the car?

    The cartell report just says finance IS outstanding. I called them for more info and the lady told me who it was outstanding with but for data protection reasons, the institution cannot reveal the amount to Cartell.

    I imagine I'll get the same response if I call the institution directly.

    My guess is that Cartell can't reveal the amount because they're not the finance institution.;)
