Hi, could anyone tell me how strong this is there please? specifically up by Tirellan Heights? I'm planning on moving to the city soon and don't wanna have to drag my laptop house hunting with me like a div :D Says its strong enough on their site but I've made the mistake of trusting that before .
    Cheers.

You MUST bring your laptop with you and househunt after 6pm when it starts to get hammered. NTL offer 9 month contracts to students.

Indeed, bring the laptop with you. It's quick and the best way really.
Or come in any evening and just drive around the area with the lappy on.

doe snot matter how strong it is if their network is overloaded as usual. coverage maps on the 3 website are a fantasy novel written by markeing people.

When you say 3G modem, do you specifically mean the 3 modem? I've seen cases where you can connect in some areas, but the connection will randomly drop. It might drop once every 1-2 mins at times. You would still see the flashing blue light when its disconnecting showing you that there is actually a signal. Something to watch out for, because I've been caught like that a few times. Just because there may be a signal, it doesn't mean you won't get disconnected every 5 seconds. It can make it completely unusable in certain places, and thats before your even talking about speed..

It works in the Newcastle area of Galway City like a charm though.
