Hi There. I thought this would be simple enough to do but I think I am missing something? I have taken many drives from many PC's and put them in a main PC as a drive just to use for storage or to remove data from a messed up OS drive.

Thought I could do the same with a drive from an Iomega Network media storage device. :( When I took it out of its enclousre it is just a 1TB Seagate SATA drive.

But I can't see it on my PC? Am I missing something obvious?

    Device in question......

Any help or hints would be appreciated.

Some NAS drives are basically mini Linux devices that use the ext2 or ext3 file format, which windows does not recognize, so that could be what is happening here.

First thing to check would be that the drive is being physically recognised in Disk Manager. You would see an unnamed disk with no filesystem type or drive letter if it is an ext2/3 partition. If it is not showing up at all that would be worrying.

If it turns out to be an ext2/3 partition there is a driver that exists for it, and the Vista version works with Windows 7. Longer term you would probably be as well off to copy all data off the drive and then reformat as NTFS though.
