    Hi All.

I'm looking at picking up a travel bag to protect my golf bag & clubs when checked into airport luggage, as travelling later in year.

There's loads of options out there, some cheap, others expensive.

Anyone any advise on which ones decent, without being OTT on expense, bearing in mind I won't be using abg much, no more that once every year or so.

As I have a new set of clubs, don't want to pick a cheap bag that offers little portection, on other hand, don't need all bells and whistles either...

    Thanks:D

I only need to transport mine infrequently so I just bought the cheapest one. If I was doing it more often then I'd buy a better one.

I think the cheapest will do the job for one or two flights per year.

    Wheels are a worthwhile option...

I travel alot with my club and was looking for a Titleist one to match my Titleist equipment until I got talking to my local pro who said any golf club thieve at the carousel is gonna go for the best bag so I now have a Ram golf travel bag. Yes get something with wheels but just be careful with how much it weighs as airlines are starting to set limits on golf bags.

Cheers for the info folks. never thought of the luggage theft angle, as I'm sure there is a change for luggage to go 'missing' before it reaches the baggage carousel.

I wonder does the Golfsure insurance that you get when pays club fees cover any loss due to travel in airports or is that only if stolen from clubhouses?

You won't do much better than this one http://www.thesportshq.com/confidence-golf-travel-cover--royal-blue.aspx .... Other colours available. I have one and have travelled with it to Spain, Portugal and the USA all with no problems...... except the US security who cut the lock to look inside.... even though it wasn't locked:rolleyes:!

I've seen an online shop (based in Northern Ireland) mentioned on this site before, anyone know the name of it?

I have one that I got in Aldi/Lidl a few years ago for €30 and it's spot on, very durable and just plain black, does the job!

Was in Halpenny's today and saw a deadly solid one which would prob fit your clothes, shoes etc. in it unless you're bringing a tour bag.

Only €70, I thought that was excellent value for money.

I got one on www.secondhitgolfballs.com a couple of weeks ago and it was spot on. And its an irish lad selling the stuff, so nice to support our own i suppose. Handy for balls too.

Got this last week as heading to Portugal in February for four rounds (bliss!!). Was €129 down to €89. Got for €79. Very happy. Reassuringly solid, good padding.

Theres a few other good sites too if your looking for printed stuff etc. I havnt come upon one from Northern Ireland yet, but will keep you posted if i come upon it.

Definitely would advise on getting one with wheels, makes for an easier life all round (pardon the pun) And as another poster said, be careful of the weight, I know Aer Lingus have a strict weight of 15kg, not a lot if you are putting wet gear shoes golf balls etc into the bag. You have been warned! Not too sure what Ryanair's limit is.

I have a generic black one, think it was €50 in the local pro shop.... wheels are essential.
It has a certain amount of padding but I'd usually put towels, tops, raingear etc in amongst the clubs for some extra protection anyway.
Flew with Ryanair in November and they were certainly weighing the golf bags as well as the suitcases and people were made swap stuff around if either bag was overweight... 20kg currently with ryanair
