These are pretty much the top #3 featherweights. All without a blemish on their record. Gamboa looked awesome last night. I didn't catch Lopez's fight, but he's on a roll too.

You could throw Elio Rojas (WBC Champ) in there too, and maybe Rocky Juarez and Ponce de Leon. It's a really competitive division. I really wanna see a show-down between Lopez and Gamboa - It would be hectic! I think both of them would beat Chris John to be honest. Be nice to see Celestino Caballero move up aswell - would really spice it up!

    Thoughts?

I definitely think its turning into quite an exciting division. The guys are good to watch as well as being good boxers. Gamboa looks absolutely awesome at times but you're on tenterhooks watching because a big puncher is definitely going to knock him out at some point. Doesn't look like he can take a proper crack and so needs to tighten up his defence a bit. Juanma is fairly awesome too but looked bad against Mtagwa who Gamboa destroyed. Could be styles etc..

Yeah, I noticed Gamboa tends to go for broke alot and often leaves himself open. But right now, he looks just amazing.

Yeah, he's been knocked down by very average fighters but then his recovery is so impressive. I just reckon that someone with serious power like Lopez could KTFO him. Chris John is a fairly wily operator too in fairness.

If Arum really does want this to be the biggest featherweight title fight of all time ( http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=22585&more=1 ) then he has to put both guys in with stiff opposition. Lopez-Cabellero is probably a good seller cause they calling each other out etc.

They would probably need to unify the division as well or take out that top guys cause Gamboa cant unify since he only has the ordinary world title.

So if its to be a ppv and global success it wont happen till late 2011 Id say. And in a way he's right cause to have the likes of Marquez-Vasquez kept within boxing circles is a shame for the fighters and the fans.

    That's hardly the boldest prediction

Hatton beating pacquaio wasn't considered bold to some.
Depends on your point of view.
Fine line between bold and ridiculous.

You've lost me on the Hatton example.

Lopez is the man at super-ban / feather, so stating that he will beat Rocky Ive never done anything Jaurez and lets be fair a noob is hardly ground breaking stuff.

I take it you have the same opinion as to who wins both of those fights.

Definitely. After he destroyed Ponce de Leon - he was the man IMO. He came from nowhere. I didn't even know he existed prior to that.

Lopez has looked very good in all but one of his recent fights. I'd picked him to beat anyone at that weight. :pac::pac:
